Strawberries are popular with pets because they are sweet and healthy. I feed strawberries to my hamsters and they love them. Is this true for your little fuzzy hamster companion? So, can hamsters eat strawberries, and if so, are strawberries beneficial to them? To answer the first question succinctly, most hamsters can safely eat strawberries as a little supplement to their usual diet. However, they’re not a good idea for certain hamsters. 

Dwarf hamsters are predisposed to diabetes, so foods high in sugar, such as strawberries, should be avoided. Strawberries are popular because of their vivid red color and juicy, sweet flavor, which may encourage many people to feed the fruit to their dogs. They are high in vitamin C and are regarded to be beneficial in the treatment of heart disease, cancer, and inflammation in humans.

Can you feed strawberries to hamsters?

Yes, you can feed strawberries to your hamsters, but only in little amounts and only a few times a week. While this is true, most veterinarians advise against giving Dwarf hamsters any strawberries at all due to a heightened risk of diabetes in these animals. 

I don’t give my hamsters too many strawberries since they’re high in sugar. You should only feed them about half of what an adult hamster would eat of a strawberry.
